Customer service was great until I billed again for what was supposed to be a free upgrade. I will not be using them again. I don't have extra money to give for something I was told would be free.
I originally had a good impression of this branch of Alamo. The desk worker was friendly, and we got a free upgrade to an SUV.
Do not under any circumstances rent from this company.
Renting the car on 6.15.17 was excellent. Returning the car was not so good. No one from Alamo was there. There was a very long line at National. A guy from Enterprise came over and helped check us in. Not good.
Picking up our vehicle was fine. There was only one employee working the counter for both Alamo and National. However, when returning the vehicle, there was nobody at the return booth. So, after waiting for about 10 minutes I finally went into the airport to the Alamo counter. Again, only one person was working and a line of people were waiting to pick up their vehicles. I figured since I was simply returning my keys, I would drop them in the box on the counter. Apparently that box is only checked the next "business" day. Since it was Saturday, they didn't actually check my car in until Monday morning. Then they tried charging me an extra $100! It took a phone call and they were kind enough to refund me. But, it would be really nice if they could adequately staff their airport location AND/OR properly label their drop box indicating that they don't bother checking it on a regular basis and you may be charged extra!
At first we had to wait in line because only one person was handling the National and Alamo car rentals. Later another person came to help. We were told where to pick up the car but wound up walking all over the lot until someone helped us. The car was not in an Alamo slot and the man that helped us electronically found the car with the key. Because we had been wandering around looking for the car, they gave us free gas! That really helped. Good job! We liked that car that we rented which performed well and was clean.
When I went to the garage to pick up the vehicle, I noticed a large scratch on the hood. However, no staff is kept in the garage. At other airports, someone is with you to check the paperwork and inspect the vehicle during the hand-off. Apparently, that practice is not followed in Knoxville. No one checked with me about vehicle damage, and I drove off the lot.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: I have been charged with a $300+ repair for body damage that was on the vehicle before I rented it.
UPDATE 4/17/17---After speaking with several representatives at Alamo, all bills to my account were dropped. I have amended this review from one star to three--I am glad that Alamo was able to respond to my concerns, but this incident should have never happened in the first place.
A month after returning the car, I received a bill for over $300. They charged me for an entire new hood. Again, the damage was present when I first rented the vehicle.
