Staff was friendly but be warned about renting w a debit card.. did all the research prior as to what the policy was and rented here last year with no issues this year major issue... normally they hold a deposit and the amount of the rental fee... no problem.. this time when we arrived we were told that the policy had changed recently. New policy requires you to have full coverage personal auto insurance that they can personally verify and you must purchase there insurance on top of that @ $15 a day...why would you need to purchase extra insurance and have full coverage personal insurance that makes No sense.., the price was not the issue the full coverage was., I own my personal car outright so I carry min insurance requirement in Florida.. now mind you we made the same trip last year with no issue and had a brand new SUV... and the year prior several for that matter... they wouldn't even allow senior mother to rent car and include me as additional driver due to the fact that they do not rent to locals or anyone who does not have a verifiable departure flight ticket back out of airport??? Again staff was nice just policy seems over kill.. we did get a car from another major rental that initially we thought would be more $$ but turned out to be cheaper and they accepted debit card with just a deposit held no crazy insurance requirement.. Again I looked al over my confirmation and Dollar website regarding policy and no where does it say all the hoops they require you jump through until you are at the counter and then they tell you.. there were other people in the same situation as us in front of us and behind.. the policy needs to be clear
I would give 0 if possible. Worse experience ever with a car rental company. They charged my card a extra 81.39 for being 1 hour late. They charged me 72.97 for a half a tank of gas. Neither of these charges where not even discussed with me. I rented it at 10 pm on Tuesday and returned it at 11 pm on Friday, they charged me 398.56. Lesson learned! I always use enterprise but this one time they where closed and airport location.was totally booked.
As a managing employee that provides the utmost highest level of customer service to each person I encounter, I am baffled and repulsed that my situation was handled in such a "sorry about your luck" way. With only having a few days to spend together, my family has been unbelievably inconvenienced by this experience. I cannot understand how such a well-renowned business could treat their customer like this. This will certainly be the last time I do business with this company. In my line of business, I will also pass along my thoughts to many, many ears.
We have a flat. Has been slowly leaking since we picked it up. When we asked for help they pretty much said screw you take care of it in your own. Nice way to spend a vacation.
Friendly enough customer service; terrible business practices. Within her control or not, the woman behind the counter said that the "system" was charging me for an extra day, the vehicle I was expecting was no longer available and she wanted me to pay for an upgrade, and the entire total came out to 3 times the online quote I was expecting. Waste of twenty minutes of my life, I moved down the line counter to counter until Alamo gave me a price cheaper than my original expectation. Will be making reservations with Alamo from here on out.
I've got to say... I truly don't enjoy having to write about the unreal, horrible experience I just had with Dollar Rentals. I booked a rental vehicle with this well-known company because I was in need of a safe, reliable car for my family while on vacation hundreds of miles from home. After driving for ten hours to Tennessee, my family arrived at our vacation destination. Out of nowhere, our rental would not start, thinking it was possibly the starter or battery. We inevitably had to call a customer service representative. After speaking to THREE different representatives AND a supervisor, Mark, for hours, we were told that we had two choices: spend 8 hours (over 250 miles) of our family vacation driving to the closest rental shop in a stranger's tow truck AT OUR EXPENSE or have a service truck jump start the car and pray it runs fine for the rest of our trip. We were told that none of the nearby managers on call were answering their phones, leaving us with unacceptable options. The supervisor we spoke with had very little patience or compassion of our situation. It did not seem fair that my family had to be put out when this was something we had no control over and no fault in. We had to end our first day of vacation missing out on the plans/reservations we had because we were left with no means of transportation.
