Car was mechanically fine but it had not been cleaned after the previous rental (mud in the car).
Absolutely dreadful service, have Emerald Club Executive and was left to stand in line, in the car park, for over 30 minutes, not a word from any of the staff as we all stood in line. Had no cars, assured me marked car as empty then charged for gas refill, still waiting on the credit. Would have preferred to stand in line inside, all other rental companies were serving their customers in a timely manner. Never had such terrible service.
Picked up a car at Detroit Metro. No one was out in the lot to greet me or to show me which row of cars t select one from. Had to go inside to the counter just to find someone to assist me. First car I chose had low tire pressure, so had to choose again. Upon returning the car, the receipt was incorrect. I had requested that one of the two days would be paid by points. Was told I had to go inside the main office and they would correct it there. Went inside and told the agent that I needed a couple of errors corrected. She told me I was very rude for wanting errors corrected, rather than asking to have the errors corrected. She then proceeded to lecture me. I had simply made one, simple matter-of-fact statement using a non-threatening and what I thought was a polite tone. She then told me she could not correct errors. I have never been treated by such a rude and aggressive individual at a car rental place. I am tempted to go back to Hertz where I have always been treated with respect.
National does well making it easy to get a car and be on your way. There are times at smaller airports where there are delays due to not having a get in your car and go option
